Naan is a flatbread, traditionally baked in a fire kiln and is popular in many parts of Asia. It can also be baked in oven as well. This particular naan recipe was given to me by a friend and I have tried it multiple times. It’s easy and fool-proof and each time the naans turn out perfectly soft.
Yields 2-3
Ingredients
3 Cups Flour (375 g)
1 Tbsp. Oil
1 tsp Salt
1 Tbsp. (7 g) Yeast
2 Tbsp. Yogurt
1 Cup Lukewarm milk
Warm Water (as required)
Method
Mix all dry ingredients, add yogurt and knead with milk into a soft dough (Use water if required). Cover the dough and let it rest for 2- 3 hours until double in size. Preheat oven at 220°C. Divide dough into small balls. Roll with a rolling pin. Mix a little bit of milk with kalonji and/or sesame seeds and apply on each naan using a brush. Bake for 8-10 minutes until golden. Once they are done, brush with butter and enjoy.
