Love at first burger

Who doesn’t love burgers? Saad and I are huge fans of this burger joint “Taste my Burger” in Munich. The best thing about this restaurant is that its the only halal burger place that serves beef burgers. It serves one of the best beef burgers I have ever tasted. For a recent Instagram Burger Collaboration, I decided to recreate one of our favorite burgers on their menu ‘The Speedy Gonzalas’.

This heavenly burger contains a juicy beef patty, spicy Mexican sauce, caramelized onions, pickled cucumbers, tomatoes and iceberg lettuce served with crispy potato wedges.

Serves 2-3

Ingredients For Beef Patti
200 g Beef Mince (with higher fat content so patties are juicy)
1 Egg
2-3 tbsp Breadcrumbs
1/4 tsp Chilli Flakes (Dhara Mirch)
1/4 tsp Chilli Powder
1/2 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp Cumin Powder (Zeera)
2 Chopped Green Chilli

Ingredients for Spicy Mexican Sauce
2 tbsp Mayonnaise
2 tbsp BBQ Sauce
2 tbsp Chilli Sauce
2-3 Chopped Jalapeno (I used pickled store-bought)

Ingredients for Assembling Burger
2-3 Burger Buns
Tomato (cut in rings)
Lettuce Leaves
Cheese Slices
2 Pickled Cucumbers

Ingredients for Caramelized Onions
1 Onion (cut in rings)
1 tbsp Butter
1/2 tsp Brown Sugar

Crispy Potato Wedges
Potatoes with Skin (cut in wedges)
Water (for Boiling)
Salt
Oil (for Frying)

Instructions
Mix all ingredients of beef patty and make round patties. Do not squeeze the patties too much. Make a thumb impression in the center of each patty and put in fridge for 30 minutes.

While patties are in fridge, cut potatoes in the form of wedges and do not remove the skin. Add salt, wedges and water in a pot and boil until potatoes are soft. Drain and let dry. Heat oil in a pan and deep fry wedges on hot flame until crispy. Once done, dish them out and season according to your taste.

Meanwhile, add onions and butter in a pan and fry for 2-3 minutes. Then add brown sugar and let it simmer on low flames for 10 minutes. Once brown and soft, dish them out and set aside. Then mix all ingredients of Mexican sauce and set aside.

After 30 minutes, take out the patties from fridge. Heat a pan and brush with some oil. Cook each patty at medium flame for 5-6 minutes on each side. Do not overcook as they will dry out. Dish them out and let them rest for a few minutes. Then put a slice of cheese on each patty so that it melts.

<p class="Now toast each bun with some butter in a pan. Once lightly toasted, take them out of the pan and spread spicy Mexican sauce on all inner sides of buns. This will ensure that the burger isn’t dry. Now comes the fun part of assembling the burgers 😀

Assembling Sequence
Bottom Burger Bun with Sauce
Beef Patty with Cheese Slice
Tomato Ring
Pickled Cucumbers
Lettuce Leaves
Caramelized Onions
Mexican Sauce
Top Burger Bun

And voila!! Speedy Gonzalas is ready to be devoured. Serve with potato wedges, Mexican sauce and a cold beverage.
