This Peshawari Style Mutton Curry will leave you wanting for more. It’s a slow cooked mutton stew with only a few ingredients. It is really simple but flavorful as slow cooking releases extra flavor. My husband’s aunt lives in Peshawar and is an amazing cook makes this recipe. She graciously gave me this recipe and I decided to share it with you all. It’s a family favorite and once you try this recipe, I’m sure you will love it as well.
Ingredients
1 kg Mutton
4-5 Garlic Cloves(crushed)
2-3 Tomatoes(blended)
2-3 Green Chilli(whole)
1/2 tsp Red Chilli Flakes(Dhara Mirch)
1 tsp Cumin Seeds(Zeera)
Salt to taste
3 tbsp Oil
Water
Instructions
Put mutton, oil, cumin seeds, red chilli flakes, garlic and salt in a pan. Add 2-3 cups of water and cook on low flame for an hour or so. Keep adding more water if meat isn’t tender. When meat is soft and a cup of water is left in the pan, add blended tomatoes and green chillies. Keep cooking on low flame until oil comes on top and gravy thickens to required consistency. Adjust seasoning to taste. Enjoy with naan or roti!
